Words of Wisdom from Two 5th Graders

First 5th grader:
This last Friday, I attended a 5th grade Continuation ceremony.
I heard one speech which was amazing.
The following words are not word for word, but close.
“There are three thing I have learned here at [this] Elementary School.
Pain, Joy and friends.
Pain is like veggies.
You have to eat your veggies.
But once you eat vegetables, you see they aren’t as bad as you thought they would be.
Joy is like dessert.
But you have to eat your veggies, to get dessert.
Pain and joy are like two pieces of a puzzle.
You need veggies to enjoy dessert.
I have learned to enjoy “Joy” more because I don’t know how long it will last.”
Second 5th Grader
I was dropping off two young friends of mine Saturday afternoon.
Pink’s song “Pretty, Pretty Please” has just finished playing on the radio.
I told them “You girls are perfect.”
The newly graduated 5th grader scoffed and said “No one is perfect.”
The wisdom these two girls have shown at the age of 11 has amazed me, and fills me with joy!
Thanks for reading,
